The place has good pizza and the ping pong theme is unique and very fun.  It is not a diner or a drive-in and it is more certainly not a dive.  The place is upscale pizza. It's pizza and ping pong for the kids and quality pizza for the ridiculously rich families who can affoard to live in the neighborhood. I'd only recomend going if you have kids AND you are staying out that way.  Other than the zoo  and American Univeristy its not really close to anything -and its not that close to either of them either. Good pizza, unique experience but no business being on this show imo. That said I can't deny it is good pizza.2/24/2012 2:35:50 PM
ElliaI have been living in this area of DC all my life and i have been to comet SEVERAL times   I love it!   The atmosphere is really fun and exiting, there is lots of interesting avant garde decorations, and the ping pong tables make it a great place for kids. Yes, there is often a long wait, but it is totally worth it   Whenever i get a long wait i tend to go wait it out in the local bookstore Politics and Prose next door   The staff is appropiatly hipster, and they are usually very attentive and charming.    The food is consistenly GREAT   I often get the ceasar sald (a delightfully light starter, the dressing is not too heavy and the croutons are salty and delicious)   I have tried almost every pizza. The Yalie, featured of DDD, IS truly unique, i suggest you get it with bacon, because bacon makes everything better. I also love the Smoky-with smoked mushrooms, bacon, mozzarella and carmalized onions, it is really cheesy and it has lots of smokey garlicy flavor. Their comet sauce is really good, i love it on the the Stanley, also featured on DDD,  an excellent pie with sausage and roasted red peppers, which are phenomenal.   Dont be afraid of some of their crazier pizza toppings. the potato on the Time Out and the egg and brocolli rabe on the Drive are actually make for very tasty pizzas. I have loved every specialty pizza i have tried-so for you pepperoni pizza purists-dont be afraid of them! If you do decide to make your own pizza, it will still turn out great, because their crust is chewy and crispy and has a really nice flavor. it is thin but it is not a cracker crust, and it holds up well to all the toppings.   I have never tried any appetizers besides salads, so i am unfamilliar with them.   Overall, i LOVE comet and highly recomend it! it is one of my favorite restaurants in all of DC!1/22/2012 7:39:07 PM
I was so psyched to see this place on the show! I had been three times before I knew they taped an episode there. They have phenomenal thin crust pizza and a really fun atmosphere...I can't wait to go back!10/15/2011 11:19:32 AM
AdamWow, the pizza was fantabulous!!  The food was great, the atmosphere was awesome.  A must stop and eat place if ever in Washington, DC.  Just watch out for Friday and Saturday nights.  You will have to wait!!5/12/2011 11:21:59 AM
Visited on 04/16/11 for dinner with the family while on vacation. The place was packed when we arrived. We had the Smokey and the Jimmy pizzas. Both were outstanding! My daughter loved the meatballs on the Jimmy and the wife and I loved the sauce. Little or no sugar at all, just like those we tasted while in Italy. The Smokey was just as good. Smoked mushrooms, onions, and cheese made for a great aroma and flavor! We would definitely try to return on our next trip to DC.4/18/2011 8:27:22 AM
Ate lunch here on a Sunday (3/20/11).  I found the staff to be very friendly, fast, and attentive.  I had a Yalie with bacon (featured on DDD) and it was delicious.  Also ordered a custom pizza with their homemade tomato sauce and sausage.  Their sauce was unique (no prego here) and sausage perfectly seasoned.  My 18 month old daughter also really enjoyed the sausage and the unique decorations.  After lunch, made the short drive to the National Zoo.  I highly recommend Comet ping pong as a family destination.3/21/2011 9:43:23 AM
Guesthas ok pizza, some other generic american dishes, but mostly for the pingpong tables in an otherewise small space in a crowded neighborhood. the drinks are good, but honestly the place is nothing overwhelmingly special as the ratings tell you. 2/13/2011 4:06:53 PM
Got supper on 13NOV10, ordered the calzone and was sorely disappointed.  The generous portion of pork shown in the episode shrunk to a single piece that amounted to a single bite in a 4 portioned calzone.  Other pizzas ordered were ok but nothing to write home about.11/21/2010 5:42:59 PM
