Visited here on our 3rd anniversary vacation The chicken and waffles is the absolute bomb

Visited Charleston on the way back from a trip to Florida. Thought we'd stop in to the Early Bird Diner for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Arrived at 9:45am and there was already a line -- opened for brunch at 10:00am. As soon as the doors opened everyone waiting found a seat at a table, booth or counter (which was our option); the dining room filled and there was still a line of people waiting. I ordered the Ham & Jalapeno Scramble topped with Fresh Salsa; my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict topped with a pepper jelly sauce -- food came with seasoned breakfast potatoes and sour-dough toast -- everything was amazing!!!! including the service -- organized, efficient, friendly! Local art, band stickers and fun signage keeps you amused -- you will be hard pressed to decide what to order there are that many unique choices. Will definitely be back to Charleston and the Early Bird -- thank you!!

Chicken & waffles were very good. Crispy chicken & the mustard sauce was a great compliment with the maple syrup. The portions were so big neither of us could finish! My only complaint was that the staff could have been friendlier to the non regulars. Will still return & recommend.

Very disappointed in the shrimp and grits:-( service was good but food lacked in my opinion. Hubby had chicken and waffles and prefers the ones I make at home, and to be honest so did I. Glad we had the experience but would not return.

I had the chicken & waffles. What can I say but WOW! This may have the best chicken I have ever eaten. The dipping sauce was as good as the chicken. You really should try it.

Amazing! Best pattie melt ever! Everything was soooo delicious. The grilled banana bread was even great. I'm glad we decided to look them up.

My wife and I thought we would try this little diner the night before celebrating New Year's Eve in Charleston. We started out with a bowl of their tomato bisque soup....unbelieveable. I had the meatloaf and it was terrific. My wife had the country fried steak which was also great. The sides were just a great. The waitress was wonderful. The bill for both of us was under $30.00 without the tip. My only disappointment was we spent over $100 the night before at a chic restaurant in the historic district that didn't even come close to the Early Bird.
