| kelly | we were on a quick trip through Indy, so decided to hit the restaurant before our hotel. It was nothing like it was on the show. They asked if we had a reservation and nothing that was on the show was even on the menu. When I asked the server he said they weren't making that today, but I could try the filet which wasnt on the menu.
The filet was good, but not $35 good! My husband got a side order and my son had the kids fish sticks, which were actually very good. Whne the bill came it was $60!!!! This is not a diner, drive-in or dive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | 4/3/2012 3:23:10 PM |
| Guest | My husband and I had dinner at Zest last night. On the positive side: we love the creative approach to the menu....and all the food we ordered was between good and great. My husband LOVED the Sake Bloody Mary, which was an appetizer in and of itself. For our actual appetizer, we ordered Ahi Crudo Tacos which were fun and delicious. Loved the vegetable relish. My husband had an entree off the "Specials" menu....Beef filet with blue cheese mousse, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I had the 5-Hr braised short rib with polenta and grilled green beans. The blue cheese mousse was PERFECT on the filet....but the asparagus and potatoes were disappointing. The short rib was tendered and tasty, the green beans were, again, PERFECT....but the polenta, not so much.
The service was great, but there are some infrastructure issues (I think that's the best way to refer to them). Our table was MUCH too close to the one next to us.....the young couple sitting next to us seemed very nice, but I could hear every word of their conversation, which made it hard to have our own. In fact, the restaurant does seem really loud....maybe the room we were in just had too many people in it. But it was hard to hear our waiter over the ambient noise. Also, restroom space is limited, and there always seems to be a line. One last surprise came when we saw the price of the filet my husband had ordered off the "specials" menu. The price wasn't posted anywhere that we saw, except on the bill.
Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars....I'd translate that to an "A-" or barely a 90%. Glad we went.....got to check off another Triple D location, and those always beat the chain restaurants by a mile. | 8/6/2011 8:44:35 AM |
| Guest | hmm...what to say about Zest. The service is bad, the food is okay and the price is a little high.
Let alone I have moral and ethical issues with the business practices of the owner. | 5/26/2011 8:53:04 PM |
| Sean Simpson | Our visit to Zest was a great experience for us. My wife had the Asiago fried chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese and I had the shredded beef sandwich with fries and the roasted bell pepper Aiolo. Everything was beyond good, but the standouts for me were the Mac and cheese and the Aiolo. I disagree that anyone would think Zest is overpriced. Our whole lunch with a soft drink was $23.95. I've spent more for a lot less quality.
Chef Valerie was very nice and the service was prompt. | 5/16/2011 1:27:28 PM |
| You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Everything made fresh and from scratch. The Veggie Burger is the best I have ever eaten. Creme Brulee French Toast is amazing. Fish Tacos -- Tasty. The list goes one!! | 5/10/2011 8:27:50 AM |
| Robynn | Had a late breakfast. Double Sausage Biscuits & Gravy, Yum. Husband had the French Toast, again Yum. Had a water glass spill with cheerful quick repair. Looking forward to coming back from Cincy. | 5/10/2011 6:21:50 AM |
