The first time we went it was AWESOME! First time we went was in 2010 and had the bet roast beef po boy & mufelatta. Both were hearty portions. The next time I returned in 2012 and took a couple friends it wasn't the same. I heard a rumor recently that it's under new management or something. The roast beef po boy definitely wasn't as good, not even close, and the mufelatta wasn't on the menu anymore.

We stopped at Parasol on a Friday, December 9, 2011 at around 5:00 p.m. since we were in the Garden District and it was close by, just a block below Magazine Street.  We didn't go into the bar area, took a door that went directly into a room by the kitchen.  We looked into the bar area, seemed real dark and REALLY smokey, no way we could have been in there.  We ordered the Roast Beef Po' Boy as well as a Pulled Pork Po' Boy that was listed as a special that wasn't on the menu.  We also ordered Parasols "Irish Sundae" which is potato salad and horseradish covered with roast beef remnants and gravy.  All of the food was delicious, would definitely recommend it.  We didn't have to wait long, no more than 15 minutes for our food.  The bar had a fair number of patrons, but only one other couple in the area where we ate.  The place is definitely a "dive" but the area where we ate was reasonably clean, although dated.

Stopped in, really looking forward to the mufaletta and boodam bubbles. Walked in and couldn't find the Guy poster/paint head, and knew something wasn't right. Woman behind the counter (who was in desperate need of a shower) told us that the place was "under new management" and they were "making things better." When the 2 things we were looking forward to were no longer on the menu, we didn't bother to stick around.

Food was pretty good, but got it after an hour and twenty minutes. It was mardi gras, but they should have been better with orders. This place was no more busy than any other place on a saturday night. Will not be going back there any time soon.

the place is nothing to look at ... a real dive bar, and walking into the back to get their famous hot mufaletta is a journey through an indoor slum, but the sandwich makes you forget about everything.  It is phenominal!  And by the way, order the 1/2 sandwich.  It is humanly impossible to finish the whole sandwich.

Went to this place from downtown.  This is a far walk, so you might want to take a cab if you are thinking of going.  I got to this place and it is a small dump. But if you are looking for food, go around the bar and up the steps to the table kitchen area.  I had to pay seperately for my sandwich and drink which is stupid.  They only take cash, so no cc's! The rb po boy was the worst crap I have eaten.  It was dried up roast beef chopped and mixed with gravy and put on the po boy.  It was awful.  I had to put ketchup all over it just to get it down.  I caught a cab back to my hotel and he was a local and told me that place was awful.  He told me Gene's is the place to get a rb po boy.  Yo mama's for a burger.  And seafood city for crawfish.  I hope you all have better luck than I did! I don't know what Guy was thinking when he ate here, but he must have been lying on tv!

We just got back from New Orleans and since we were going to be there, we specifically wanted to go to places seen on Triple D. We walked 45 minutes through some cool, eerie, and interesting neighborhoods to get there all the way from downtown. Tiny little hole in the wall....the food was delicious....not what I was expecting it to taste like even though I had seen the show. I  had the roast beef po'boy and my husband had the Italian sausage. We went through many napkins and a lot of Louisiana Crystal Hot Sauce. I give it 5 stars and will definitely return to New Orleans and to Parasols!!!! :)

Food was excellent.  Eat the roast beef po boy.  Hands down the best.  Shrimp po boy was a close second.  way too many shrimp for the sammy.  Sit at the bar with the locals!  Will eat here again.

They judge how good your sandwich is by how many napkins you need. I needed several! I will return the next time I get to New Orleans.
