Stopped in April 2019 and was less than satisfied. Over priced, food was dry and little flavor. Tried to let the staff know and they didn't care. Pretty rare for a Triple D joint.

Absolutely amazing food, wait staff, hospitality, and fairly priced as well. Went in for lunch, not crowded. Had fried wings, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes w/gravy, cornbread, green beans and sweet tea...all were absolutely phenomenal and had a southern style twist to them. HIGHLY recommend!

I was visiting family in St. Louis and decided to stop by sweetie pies to see if the all the hype was true. The food was very good. However, the place was not what you expect when Oprah puts her stamp on it. The staff was not professional. Overall I would not make a special trip to sweetie pies. I would rsther go somewhere else. One more thing that adds to the professionlism piece, care that customers are willing to come to hour resturant; why not inform patrons of your holiday hours. they have website? Don't take the chance.

I've heard great things about this place! I have been trying to find great restaurants in Kansas City MO. Does any one know of any good ones?

We take an annual family tubing trip to the current river. This year on the way back to indy we took the long way to stop at sweetie pies. We decided to add sweetie pies every year. Well worth waiting in line for a bit. Friendly staff.

Was traveling threw St. Louis and checked the Diner Drive inn & Dives website and noticed we were only a few blocks from Sweetie Pie's. Never heard of it before and would have probably drove passed and missed it if we didnt find it on the web. It was well worth the stop. Impressive hospitality and the food was great. It was 2:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday and we waited in line for 20min. Had the wings with sweet potatoes and okra, Wife and one daughter had meat loaf, other daughter had baked chicken, Daughters ages 11 and 13 (picky age) loved everything, Mac n cheese, cornbread were all great. Only problem was we were stuffed, had the leftovers that evening in the hotel room and nobody complained about eating leftovers! If your in the area also check out the Catholic Cathedral Basilica, amazing art work and worth the stop.

Traveled from New York just to go to Sweetie Pie's. Well worth the wait. And I do mean wait! 90 minutes standing in the line just to get inside.... I had the chicken wings which were excellent, the corn bread was amazing, and I had sweet potatoes and mac & cheese... everything was absolutely amazing and worth the wait in the line. Someone else said overpriced.... well, that can be said of a lot of things these days. I've had other meals cost about the same that didn't leave me nearly as satisfied as this meal did.... oh, I forgot the lemonade, which was very good as well.

My boyfriend and I tried to go in November when we were in the area. Sad to say that there were 50+ people in line to get in, it went out the door! Great news for Sweetie Pie's, bad news for us. We still are dying to try it, and hope to the next time we're in the area!

Our only disappointment of all your restaurant's we have visited.  Typical cafeteria & overpriced.  Will look for something else when we go through St Louis. We always check your recommendations when we travel.

Watched my first episode of Sweetie Pies on OWN. I'm loving you all already. I am from Old North St. Louis(Hyde Park) and am sooooo impressed on ANYONE being able to keep a restaurant thriving for so long, and having such a great family to work towards keeping it that way. Mrs. Robbie is an impressive woman with great insight and love. Now I am not only coming back to St. Louis to visit my family, but I AM DEFINATLY going to stop by Sweetie Pies!!!!!!!! Man that food looked sooooo good, and the portions are nothing like we get in Florida. I swear they want to starve us down here. lol I wish you all much luck w/getting a banker on the loan for new restaurant!!!!! I know it will be a beauty. Take care and keep up the great work, cause we know it IS A LOT OF WORK. Elizabeth Endsley

This place was on my list as the last stop on my Triple D vacation. When I drove there last night for dinner, it was dark and there was a closed sign in the window. I drove by again this morning and it was the same. Dark inside, although all the tables and chairs are still inside, and a closed sign in the window.

We went to lunch yesterday, and boy oh boy what a welcome. I love how the guy saw we didn't know what to do, now we did have to keep moving to follow him to the buffet; I loved how he said we were home and we really felt like it. I had the fird fish ( which I ate with my hands) to good for the fork, don't sleep the yams, black eyed peas and string beans. I realize that the mac and cheese is signature------- but kep going down the line. Don't miss this spot when in Stl. follow the city residents for good eats. Thanks DDD for pointing this one out.

Just visited last week.  Had the fried chicken wings, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.  Everything was awesome. Make sure to stop here.  Then stop by Ted Drewes and get some Frozen Custard.

Took the parents to Sweetie Pies and we all had a great meal!  You know you are in the right place to eat when the line stays 20+ deep the whole time you are there.  Cafeteria style, very casual, and friendly.  Each of us had different main dishes and they were a hit.  The mac-n-cheese, green beans, collards, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious.    Tried take my sister there a couple of weekends ago and was so disappointed that they were closed due to a bike marathon.  Hoping to go again before we leave next month.

We went to Sweetie Pies a weekor so ago. There are TWO locations. Be sure you pick the one that is DOWN TOWN

This was my second visit and my husband's first.  He played it safe with Fried Chicken and Roast Beef.  I decided to brave something new and went with Ox Tails and Neck Bones.  We couldn't finish it all!  Everything was delicious and the leftovers were just as good the next day. It's worth a stop for sure and be brave - try somehting new!

I am headed to St Louis this week and cannot wait to go to Sweetie Pie's.  I was there a year or so ago with a friend that loves to go to anything from DDD and the chicken wings are what I remember most...

    Sweetie Pies in the Lou

  • Posted by SR December 2010

Looked up Sweetie Pies on our way across the US.  The service staff was very attentive.  The Mac-N-Cheese and Pear Cobbler were memorable and the portions were huge.  Since I am from the south, the rest of the meal was pretty standard.  Worth your time.

Went for dinner on our way back home from Dallas.  Nice and clean ... first impression.  We ordered 2 dinners salsbury steak(a big as a baseball) and chicken wings(ON STEROIDS).  I had mac n cheese and sweet potatoes and he had dressing and gravy and mac n cheese.  WOW... what a treat. Mac n cheese is made with 4 cheeses and browned on top, the best I have ever had.  Portions were huge, sides were great ...  Sweetie pie came out to introduce herself.  She brought us a warm cupcake with strawberry icing for dessert, Awesome.  :-D Found out thru the staff that she was an Ikett from Ike n Tina Turner days.  Look at the pictures on the waLL, she was beautiful, and still is.  All the recipes she uses are her mothers from Mississippi.  WTCH FOR A NEW LOCATION SOON, MOVING TO GRAND AND DELMAR NEAR THE OLD FOX THEATER. Can't say enought good about the food we will be sure to find the new location next time in St. Louis.

Was able to catch this DDD and Clantons all in the same trip! Sweetie Pies was a worth the trip location. All the food was fresh well prepared and delicious, was way over fuel when we were done. The staff was so helpful, my elder mother travels with me and loves DDD's everyone was so willing to assist us! :*  Great place to visit! Thanks Guy for all your hard work... i guess you could call it that.. doing what you love to do.

Best fried chicken wings, best mashed potatoes and gravy, best green beans, and the best corn bread I have ever had.  Would like to eat there every week, but I live 100 miles away, so I will have to wait until I visit St. Louis again.

I was not impressed with this establishment

  • Posted by Mable Thomas February 2010

the Mac and cheese is wonderful.  I live in Champaign Illinois and will drive to St. Louis for Ms. Montgomery's mac and cheese and chiken wings.

  • Posted by Steve January 2010

Chicken wings were phenomenal, best mashed potatoes and gravy ever! Mac and cheese was OK, a little disappointing. Overall my wife and I had a great experience, if we ever go back to St Louis we would definitely go back to Sweetie Pie's for more wings and mashed potatos and gravy.
