STRETCH says, as far back as he can remember, he’s enjoyed food. His interest was daily, sometimes 2-3 times a day. He was addicted to this — it felt natural. Most people around him were doing it, so he said to himself, why not continue? Eating, along with the urge to create as he got older led to opening 4 restaurants, Grinders & Grinders West, Grinders Stonewall, Grinders High Noon and building sculpture for a living.

I recently went to grinders and it was awesome. The Philly cheesesteak was really good. The survice was good. There were airplane seats at some of the tables. Overall I give it a 9/10 and you need to go.

Soo good!! We had the Famous Chili Bomb Pizza (with chili, cheese, and tater tots piled in the center of the pizza) and it was amazing!! Very eclectic feel to the restaurant and really nice servers...overall a great experience. This s the place that inspired our DDD themed honeymoon, and it was worth the trip!!

Made it to Grinders on Saturday nite 10/5/12. Definitely the best Philly Steak sandwich in KC. Reminds me of Philly steaks at Geno's and Pats. Had it to go and made 2 meals out of it. Got a couple of slices of Pizza to go. Reminded me of NY pizza. Slices are huge and sliced in half and made 2 meals out them. Wish they had the Bengal Tiger by the slice, but maybe since it was after 11pm only had 1 topping available. Would highly recommend and will try it again during lunch time. Worth the trip.

This place is an eclectic kind of place. We went to Grinder's not Grinder's west which is right next door. The bengal tiger pizza is delicious, the fresh cilantro added at the end just bumps up the flavor. Add two beers and its heaven. Definitely give it a shot if you're out that way, you're missing out if you dont!

June 25 2011    My friend and I jumped on our Harleys and rode into Kansas from Chicago to watch the Cubs vs. Royals Baseball Game. Wondering what to do while in Kansas City..... Where do you go? I thought to myself Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives has never steered me wrong before, so it was off to GRINDERS for a Philly Steak Sandwich. I liked the run down artsy area the restaurant was located in. The service was excellent, our waitress was sweet and funny, The food was phenomenal! Hey Guy, Thank you again for yet another terrific Diners, Drive INS and Dives suggestion

Went with my sister and husband.  There was a 'special event/concert' going on behind the restaurant, but we were able to get a table right away.  Our waitress was wonderful and considering the amount of people coming in and out of the joint, she was very attentive.  We had the fried goat cheese salad, the sausage grinder, philly cheesesteak, and a slice of pepperoni pizza.  All the items were delicious!!  The only downside was that because of the special event, there was a limited menu....  Would go back in a heartbeat!!

Of course Pizza by the Slice is premade.  It's impossible to freshly make a single slice of pizza.  Even if it were possible, people who want a slice of pizza aren't the type to want to wait 15 minutes for a pizza to bake.  Rather, a slice of pizza.  Which is impossible to freshly make.  Duh.

We went to Grinder's the first night we stayed in KC.  My BFF was almost scared to go in and didn't look happy while we were there.... she started to lighten up and by the end of the night, she wanted to go back again the next night... which we did. :)     We tried the pizza and the philly.  Both were pretty good.  Stay away from pizza by the slice... it's premade and not very good.  We will be going back when we go to KC again.

We had 3 children and loved sitting inside Grinders West.  You may sit in either restaurant or outside and order from either restaurant.  We each tried a different salad and split a small pizza.  It was perfect--all of it.  We started to sit outside where the kids could have more room but moved inside to be away from the smoke.  :)   Great service, quality food and fun/clean atmosphere.  Can't wait to go again.

We were not in Grinder's West, only in Grinders.  I do not recommend taking children under 13 years of age into Grinder's.

My daughter and I went to Grinder's while in Kansas City for a convention.  It was worth the trip.  We had a white sauce pizza with shrimp and it was wonderful!  Service was also great.

My wife and I shared a philly steak and cheese &  turkey club. Both were good, not great. Probably should have tried the pizza.
