Lone Star Taqueria
gigimama says We ate there on July 10, 2009 during a pit stop on our family road trip from CO to CA. We were spending that night in SLC, so we thought we should try to check out Lone Star Taqueria while we had the chance. It intrigued us when we watched the DDD episode. It was very busy when we arrived at about 2pm. We had to park in a public library's parking lot about a block away. The restaurant itself is tiny. The patio seating more than doubles the capacity, though. The decor is quirky/funky, the type of place hipsters in Sarah Palin glasses and ironic western shirts flock to. Everyone was friendly and laid-back. We ordered fish tacos, carnita tacos, nachos with everything, a carnitas burrito with green chili, and quesadillas for our little kids (fearing the spice). Everything came out looking great and we dug in. The green chili was too spicy for me, and I consider myself to be tough in that department. The pork in the taco was very dry, but tasted okay. The fish taco was excellent, according to my husband. The kids loved the nachos, and so did I. The guacamole had chopped jalepenos, which made it too spicy for most and that was disappointing. Quesadillas were fine. It's very hard to mess up quesadillas. Burrito was enormous, so we split it up.
