Amy says A friend and I took the 2+ hour trip to Big Jim's yesterday to check it out after seeing all the great reviews on this site. The. food. was. incredible. I had the eggplant parmagiana and my friend had the veal parmagiana. HUGE portions...I have enough to eat for 3 days, at least! The wait staff was super friendly. Reasonable prices! As already mentioned, the restaurant environment itself is not impressive. We came around close to 5 p.m. and when we walked into the dining room, everyone stopped what they were doing, stopped talking, and stared. Awkward!! It's dark, dingy, and from where I was seated I couldn't help but notice that the check out 'podium' looked as though it had had a nasty encounter with an angry dog...it looked like it had been gnawed on. Really rough. When we got our receipts, there was a note saying they have a new location somewhere else in Pittsburgh. The food was so good, I'd love to try the new location. Don't think I'll be back to the Saline St. site.
