Really enjoyed our breakfast here. Nice, friendly service. Elegant atmosphere. Delicious made-from-scratch baked goods I had the crab benedicts which were delicious!

This restaurant was fantastic! Great food and large portions. Had the Tuesday special, Beef Short Ribs and it was one of the best I've had. And it came with dessert. I chose Lemon Pecan pie out of their very large dessert selection. Also very reasonably priced. Thanks for the best service I've had at a restaurant in a very long time.

Food was OK. Big up hill walk. Little disappointed in quality and staffs knowledge of food recommendations. Would not return.

Really worth the visit, great home cooked food.

Went there for dinner it was OK.  I had the swiss steak, gravy was good! Great atmosphere, great banana muffin.  The portion was small unlike what was featured on Tripple D's. Would have to try more of their food to really give a fair review.

The food was great! Our waitress was so nice and friendly and watching her talk to the older customers at the restrurant was heart warming. Such great Liver and Chicken and Dumplings :-D

The food okay, but the service was the pits!  The waitress was almost nonexistent.    I had the chicken and dumplings and they the dumplings were extremely salty.  My husband had the roast beef and he enjoyed it.  Overall it was the serves that was extremely disappointing!

Unbelievably good chicken and dumplings!!! Only my Great Grandmother made them better. The portions are huge and the waitresses are always charming.  My husband recommends the lamb shanks highly.

Go for the bean salad!  Our server suggested it and she was right on!  I had ordered potato salad and wasn't too impressed and she told me to mix my bean salad with it and again, dead on!   We were the youngest ones there.  Pretty old crowd.  Our server was full of personality and made it a nice experience. I had a Ruben which was very good.

OK, I have tried many of Guy's D,DI&D picks over the years and have generally come away happier for the experience.  Hob Nob Hill was pleasant but certainly not typical of the kind of off-beat and surprising establishments that I have come to expect.  The food at Hob Nob is fine (not great) but what I can't figure out is why the restaurant is listed - it certainly is not a diner, isn't a drive-in and is not a dive.  The readers are correct that the service is great.  A bit too old school traditional for my tastes but I am sure the regulars love it.

What a really nice place to stop.  The food is worth talking about and the staff is worth talking to.  Try the chicken and dumplings, that dish is MONEY!

We stopped in before heading to Balboa Park for December Nights and my 14 year old son didn't want a menu, he wanted what Guy had! He had the Chicken & Dumplings and loved them.

We had the Chicken and Dumplings as well as the Cattleman's cut Prime Rib.  Both were just OK.  The Spinach salad was very good as was the clam chowder.

It is so aswome!!  The food is the best and you feel like you are in the 40's.  The chicken fried steak is amazing!  Their bread is to die for!!
