After finding the Skylark closed, but under new management, we came to the Brownstone & it was awesome, the Country fried chicken over a pan cake was kick ass, loved the sauce on it, this is a must do & return to kind of place.

I went here with a friend a while back for breakfast. Ordered an omelet, which came to the table burned. Sent it back, but with some pushback from the waitress who is a relative to the manager. They couldn't understand why I didn't want a burned omelet. They brought a new one but it was burned as well. Wouldn't have enjoyed anyway; their attitude toward my sending back the omelet made me uncomfortable that they might do something to my food. Then they charged us 50 cents for lemon for our water. Just to be stinky, I guess. I'd never go back.

Visited here on way to New York as most of reviews good. Was not disappointed...the menu was endless. Was quiet there as we arrived about 1530 on a weekday. Service was fine, food tasty and not greasy as you get in other diners and place very clean...even the restrooms were spotless. Lots of space in the car park so parking not a problem.

I went to the Brownsone last summer ( 2010) ..not what I expected. The food was okay but like someone else mentioned not worth driving to Jersey City for, plus the place was not crowded and I had to wait 15 minutes for my check. I've been to Cape May and they have the best pancakes there in a place called Uncle Bill's pancake house...those pancakes are seriously to die for!!! I don't care that they are about 2 hours away they are freaking delicious because everything is made from scratch!!!! Guy should really go there!!!

Waited my entire trip to the Northeast to check this place out for the Thanksgiving break. The service was slow. The food was NOT worth the drive at all. Very disappointed. When we requested to see a manger it took almost 15 minutes, even with us asking again after 10min. Once over, the manager was very dry and carefree about our complaints. Very very very disappointed and Guy for spotlighting this place.....a total waste of time and money. Please go elsewhere.

This was the most unpleasant experience I have had in a restaurant. EVER. I would recommend people to steer clear and spend their money elsewhere.

GREAT! Pancakes werre out of this world. Living on Long Island my whole life and there is no diner that would compare to this in New York. Great food, great service. great prices. My sister and I took the kids to the Taylor Swift Concert last night, so we decided to make it a food night for us. First stop, Carlo's Bakery...not worth the 2 hour wait, second stop, Tic Toc Diner for Disco Fries..horrible, soggy...gross! Final destination Brownstone Diner for Pancakes..GREAT should of been the only stop. Worth the drive, enjoyed it, great atmosphere...YOU WILL LOVE IT!

I was part of the Munchmobile team that hit Brownstone this year for its french toast, waffles, and pancakes. Absolutely the BEST french toast I ever had -- so creamy and tasty that they didn't even need syrup. And you've got to try the black walnut pancakes -- out of this world!

We just ate at the brownstone tonight. The food was out of this world good. The food size was crazy big.The prices were very reasonable. We had the Brown stone burger with onion rings and blue and cheddar cheese and the chicken parma sandwich. We could eat half the food. But we still had to try the chocolate chip pancakes.Yumm.

My family and I took a road trip this past Saturday. Our first stop was the Brownstone Diner & Pancake Factory. All I can say is it was the most amazing pancakes I have ever had. I also tried their Turkey Sausage. It was the best I ever had. A key to a good sausage is the taste when you first eat it followed by it not repeating on you the entire day. It was the best. I plan on making this stop a once a year trip if possible.

My wife and I both grew up in northern NJ, so we have a true appreciation for Jersey diners. We've lived in Virginia for more than 20 years, but never fail to hit a Jersey diner whenever we come home to visit family. Take it from a Jersey Boy -- this place is awesome! It's not easy to find -- I used my GPS -- but it's well worth the effort. If you're visiting NYC, take the PATH train over to Jersey City and check this place out. If we had a joint like this in Roanoke, VA, I'd be very happy camper!

The portions are huge. We split country chicken dinner and it was incredible. We finished it off with peanut butter and chocolate chip pancakes for dessert. Yummy!

It reminded me of a Denny's on steroids! Pancakes are great but not worth driving to far out of your way for.
