My husband and I ate here while sightseeing in Ft. Lauderdale before we went on a cruise from Miami.  Our first meal after we checked into our hotel.  We had oysters - very fresh, dolphin fingers (mahi mahi) - very good, rock shrimp - also very good.  The service was awesome, everyone very friendly.  After our cruise we stopped here again before we went to the airport to return home. Again, the food was very fresh and good and the waitress made sure we got our food quickly since we had to get to the airport.  We will definitely eat here again if in Florida.

I stop by Whales Rib 5 to 6 times a year when in town.Always had a great meal. Kids love the whales fries and dip that is included. The Dolphin Key West Sandwhich is the best!! Also, this place has the best shrimp scampi on the east coast and garlic rolls are to die for!! Yummm :-D

I was quite disappointed.  The Dolphin  sandwich was greasy although the guy who had it raved out the coleslaw all night.  Crab legs were good. Conch fritters were TERRIBLE ... overcooked, almost burned, and horribly rubbery. Whale fries were nothing special and got soggy quickly.

By the way, there is a parking garage around the corner for $10. Totally worth it.

After by-passing the Whales Rib several times we finally had an oppertunity to have a casual lunch this past Saturday, 2/11/12.  I AM NOW SORRY we by-passed this place so many times. We walked in around 2pm on a cloudy, cold, lousy beach day and we were informed we had a bout a 30 minute wait or there was self seating at the bar.  So we sat at the bar and we proceeded to have a GREAT Meal; starting with a bowl of N.E. clam chowder to share, full of clams and just the right amount of potatoes; then it was on to a GREAT Big portion of Ipswitch Steamed Clams and an order of Fish & Chips.  The Ipswitch clams were seasoned just right and the fish (Mahi) was ultra light and sweet and chips (not your normal fries) this place makes their own potatoe chips and they were awesome. We were lucky to be sitting at the bar and had an oppertunity to talk with the general manager.  We were asking about the New England sea food and he says he gets is Ipswitch clams flown in from Maine and usually runs out by 7pm on Saturday.  Well, this past week must have been a busy week for he ran out of fried Ispwitch by 4pm and only had 2 orders left for the steamed option.  The STAFF was AWESOME in fact the manager was assisting shucking littleneck clams and offfer me a taste (ok 2 of them) and they were so cold and sweet as if they just came off the boat in Rhode island and then I had the oppertunity to try an oyster.  Once I swallowed the oyster I imediately asked where they were from so sweet and fresh he immediately replied he gets all his oysters from Maryland, nothing like a cold water oyster!!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STOPPING AT THIS GREAT PLACE!!!  Enjoy!!!   The only tuff thing about this place is finding a parking spot - no matter how far you have to park the walk is worth it!!!!!!!!!

Stopped in here on a Sunday at noon. Had a blackened swordfish sandwich and a dolphin sandwich. The food was ok, but the bartender staff was not overly friendly. Guess they prefer the locals to travelers like us. Not really made to feel welcome. With so many great places, we won't go back.

food and price was just average kitchen was very slow will not return

my wife & I ate there today. The oyster rockefeller was average nothing to rave about. We asked for grouper which was not on the menu. The waitress informed us that she remembers grouper being offered a couple of times in the last year. We ordered the fried dolphin sandwich. The breading was not crisp and the fish was not firm. In my opinion the oil was not sufficiently hot. The sandwich was a disapointment. Would we return? Not in this lifetime.

Read Flavortown's good reviews which were spot on.  Food was terrific, very fresh fish, prices so reasonable, wonderful service.  We're going back!

mobile review Decided to go to this place because we saw on on DDD. Our waiter had no personality and was kinda rude. He didnt tell us the specials we had to locate it on a chalkboard as we were browsing the restaurant . The oysters rockefeller was over cooked, the clamari was suffered with tomato sauce that tasted like it was straight out of can. Dang have they not heard of an Aoli sauce ?? We received appetizers fairly quick but it took our dinner so long to come. I ordered the whale fries which tasted like a big pile of fried grease! My dolphin sandwich was done key west style and the burger it was sooooo burnt . The batter used on the fish was so over cooked that I couldn't even taste the fish. So my entire meal was burnt and when I sent the meal back I was told the kitchen was closed the grill and fryer were all turned off ! So I drove all the way to Deerfield Beach and didn't get a meal! This place did not desereve to be on DDD. I will reccommend that noone goes there ! A blind man could cook better than that rookie cook. My husband had the stuffed dolphin which was supposed to be stuffed with crab , but instead was filled with breadcrumbs! He was sick all night after eating that piss poor meal !!

To say we loved this place would be an understatement! We were happy enough to live right up the road so we were there all the time. Too bad the Triple D ( Diners, Dribe-Ins and Dives) did not capture the talk between those in the kitchen. Food is great (clams and blknd dolphin) but the people working there make the difference.

I loved it. I have been around the country eating at diners driveins and dives and I have only been disappointed ... to be continued

The food is great, service is great, and you will be served quickly. This place is a must go, loved the coconut shrimp and the dipping sauce for them. This place is worth the stop.

We love this place, food is sooo good, especially the Blackened Dophin Key West sandwich.  We have been there 5 times now.  Service and staff very nice.  There's usually a while wait but well worth it.
