Went there I ordered steak with onions and got a breaded steak I sent it back it took too long for the food. The place was really dirty, and so were the menu's. I don't know how this place made in into Guys show? Thumbs down.

My son is visiting from Cali. He took me to a DDD Cuban spot in the bay area so we tried one here (Joses) Really great pulled pork and the Cuban combos also. Staff was really nice and provided us a few samples of some of the other foods. Wish I had an occasion to order the large Pealla sometime.

We vacation annually on AMI, so we stopped at Jose's on a Sunday last Spring. They were closed for business and were having a cleaning day, but Jose gave us a sample of the pulled pork and asked us to come back. After Mom, Step-Dad, Grandma and Grandpa all had a small bite, our 6 year-old boy proceeded to DESTROY the rest of the sample! Meanwhile, we went to the Anna Maria Oyster Bar instead and I availed myself of the Early Bird Special of 50-cent oysters on the half-shell. (By the way, I highly recommend AMOB to anyone who has never been there.) Anyway, we went back to Jose's later in the week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had never had a Cuban sandwich before but had wanted to try one for a long time. I was NOT disappointed! Not only was it delicious, it was quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever had. The Boy and his Momma did "The Hunch" for a photograph I took, and the server laughed along with us and asked us to make sure and get them a copy of the pic. We did one better: We printed it with a caption, The Boy signed it, then we framed it and took it in to them. I took a pic of the Boy with Jose, and Jose promised the pic would be on the wall when we came back the following Spring. We are only months away from this year's trip, and are really looking forward to going back. We LOVE Jose's!

I visited Jose's Real Cuban Food Today. And I have mixed feelings. First thing I noticed, was how dirty it was inside, then how loud it was. I was greeted by a female who was either eating food or chewing gum. Interesting. I was seated immediately. The table was dirty and the reusable menus had food on them. I ordered #6 Fricase de Pollo – Arroz blanco platanitos "Chicken Fricasse" "Cuban Style" rice and plantains. This was not fricasseed, but it was actually a heavily seasoned chicken breast smothered in onions and green peppers. The plantains were delicious that accompanied the rice. While I was eating my meal, they were emptying the trash and dragging it out the entrance leaving a trail of liquid leaking behind it. Gag! I took my items in a to-go as the ambiance was not there. I asked for a bread pudding to go. I was handed a heavy muffin and a plastic container of sauce in a small plastic bag.
The cleanliness was certainly not there, and it makes me wonder if the restaurant was that dirty, what the kitchen/grill areas would be like. The whole place needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. Some of the best food comes out of greasy spoon restaurants, but there is no reason not to clean.

Hands down the best Cuban place. I've traveled the US for the past decade and this place is at the top. Small small hole in the wall. Service is excellent. Jose actually came out and spoke with me. They throw a sample of pork at you while you decide on your meal. Went with the Taste of Cuba...good sample of three big ticket items, topped off with a side of black beans and yucca and some plantains. Throw on some of Jose's homemade hot sauce and that about does it. If you're visiting the Sarasota/Bradenton area, I highly recommend it. Just by Guy's expressions, you can usually tell if he truly likes a place and I think this spot was one of his favs...and now I see why. 8-)

Stopped today on our way from the Tampa airport to Sarasota.  Super good food!   Soups, Cuban, pulled pork were all excellent.  A lot of Triple D fans eating in this Dive!  This is our second visit to a Triple D joint.  We set a goal to do fifty before 12/31/12!

This place is a great find!!  Walked in at 730 on a Monday night...PACKED!!  Jose himself greeted us at the door.  Upon discovering that we had never visited before, he disappears and quickly reappers with a sample of the Pork for us to try.  The food was amazing, and it surely is a place I never would have tried with out the help of Guy and friends!!
