I was going to surprise my wife and 3 yearold baby by visiting the Gaffey St. Diner for lunch before hitting the beach. I was a fan of that show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and with its recommendation, I was certain that the food at the Gaffey St. Diner would undoubtedly be excellent; boy was I wrong.
The service was great, the orange juice tasted freshly squeezed, and the food, well let's just say that I tasted better. I tried the biscuits and gravy with sausage; my wife, the cheeseburger and fries. We sampled each others dishes. We both concluded...a lot of carbs and little flavor...ok...my wife just corrected me...no flavor.
What happened? Did popularity affect the taste of the food? I wouldn't know. I based my visit to the diner solely on Guy's recommendation. I was going to join a group in Meetup.com which was dedicated to visiting all the restaurants shown in D3. Oh well...there goes that plan. I really didn't need the extra time on the treadmill anyways.
