The Washoe House in Petaluma, CA
Built in 1859, "The Shoe" has been many things from a stage coach station, a hotel, and rumored to even have been a rowdy brothel by the locals. This is a special place that has lasted for many years and will last many more. We serve great steaks, appetizers, and burgers to the folks around Petaluma Ca. , many of whom work the ranches and dairies in the area. In fact Larry Peters, who owns the place, is also a dairy farmer and runs the Petaluma Creamery in town; many of the cheeses he makes are featured there in the restaurant. The fried cheese curds are a must, and are coated in an IPA batter with beer from the nearby Lagunitas Brewing Company. People come here to enjoy a drink in the company of fellow hard working folks from the area, as well as listen to Brian play country music colored with his Cajun roots on Friday nights, (and sometimes Saturdays). Surrounded by acres of untainted pasture, The Washoe House is a testament to the agricultural roots that developed the economy and culture of Sonoma County. There is much more to say about this place, but it's better to see for yourself.
