Milano's Italian Restaurant in Fairhaven, WA
This is the best restaurant in the whole county by far, and one the best in the state. I've traveled extensively and this restaurant would be a hit in any big city in the world. And it's 31 year sold! It was moved from Glacier to Fairhaven by Chef Sam and his wife last year, who bought the restaurant some 8 years ago and improved it immensely. The recipes are from chef Sam Hassan or his own twist on traditional recipes. The always have a leg of Jamon Iberico de Bellota 4 years. They make their own pasta, sauces, bread, stocks, they use wild prawns, Bristol Bay sockeye salmon, local suppliers, etc. They have an amazing wine list. Even the cheapest bottles are good and several times unique wines. The Bar Veneto is outstanding, unique and beautiful, with several rare bottles and a great craft bar quality bartender from the Bay area. They carry their own award winning liquor from their own distillery, like the Silver Medal NY World Spirits competition Aunty Molly Cask Strength Rye Whiskey and the Isabelle Spiced Banana Rum. The decor is so beautiful and unique, it's like dining in a square in an Italian village. For me, a theater major, it's like walking into a stage of an opera... like a flash mop will come out of every corner of the place and will start singing and dancing! Service is friendly but very professional, and chef Sam makes sure he visits tables frequently. They also run an old double-Decker bus in a lot across the street where they sell Brazilian Barbecue tacos, amazing tamales, soups and baked goods. It's fine dinning at affordable prices and no pretense. Oh, and their monthly wine pairing dinners are just incredible.
