I am just a little biased as my husband is the owner of Jack & the Bear BBQ, but I can honestly say it is the best BBQ I've ever eaten! I eat there almost everyday I'm there helping out and so does our little one. I'm so very proud of my husband as he has worked his way up from working at fast food joints as a teenager to heading/being a part of up some of the best fine dining establishments in West Michigan. Getting to own his own restaurant, as daunting as its been (like staying at the restaurant overnight when we first opened to make sure all the meat was smoked to perfection and everything was ready to go), has been pretty awesome. We are truly grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many AMAZING people/friends and bring them our DELICIOUS FOOD! Thank you!!
Best Mom & Pop come-back story I have known in 60 years! And the food, well no words to describe what the taste-buds will cover on their own. I have known many a Chef's in my days & Billy, knows what he is doing & what it takes to please others for sure. Their café may be out of the BIG city limelight's but, there are "impressive amounts" of people willing to travel to eat what he touches I tell ya!
Billy’s food is wonderful everything is made from scratch. It is owned by and young couple with a young boy. They are local and a very nice couple
Awesome craft BBQ!! College town for Ferris State University but small town feel. The Abbott’s have lived through and dominated life with Keri having stage 4 Glioblastoma and now considered a survivor with +4 years since diagnosis and a miracle son who will be 1 on January 4! This family deserves recognition from the community for being survivors and making the best craft BBQ! Please consider!!
Jack and the Bear is amazing. They have delicious craft BBQ and sides. They have an amazing story about overcoming tremendous obstacles, some that would have most people giving up, and they truly care for the people and their community. The inspire those around them and are some of the best people with some of the best food around. I haven't had BBQ as good as theirs since I was stationed down south.
All the food is fantastic! The owners are a family who is very caring of the community. The service is always above and beyond. Either eat in which is fun or carry out, which can be done in drive thru which is great in our winter weather.
Omg his food is absolutely delicious his brisket,chicken,pork.his new egg rolls,his baked beans Cheddar jack potato.all around his food is the bomb please come visit his restaurant.his wife Karen his baby and Billy and his co-workers are awesome people and I am glad that they have came in to the big rapids community and gave us the good food is we go to there place 4 days a week.
Best BBQ spot in Mecosta County! Sweet sauce is my favorite but if you like some heat he definitely has that too! Chicken pork and beef are all amazing. But definitely don’t miss the smashed potatoes definitely great!! You gotta taste it all tho!
They bring all the best smoky bbq flavors around. Their homemade touches make it even better… the homemade pickles are a must try!
