Peebles Bar-B-Q in Auburndale, FL
BBQ cooked in a pit of coals. Small little restaurant that is closed during summer months, but well worth the visit. You can't beat their BBQ plates that come with homemade potato salad, homemade baked beans, and homemade coleslaw.

This restaurant has been in business for almost 80 years. Still ran in the original location by the same family. It’s a no a/c, no fuss open pit bbq lovers dream! They have a limited traditional menu that packs out the house on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays only! They close completely in the summer and are not only a stable for the locals but a destination for travelers. They have been on my travelers posts and commercials… most recently in the UK. Definitely a a must see!!
As a signature stop on Polk County's barbecue trail, Peebles is a one-of-a-kind eatery. With the dirt parking lot, smokers indoors and shotgun-shack building, it screams small town barbecue. Having served Polk County residents since 1947 doesn't hurt either. Often listed as one of the best in the state, here is a quick video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxFzRi_EJbE All the best, Jack
