The Bone Barbecue in Gainesville, VA
I have had ribs all over the US, Europe, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Albania, Kosovo, and Uzbekistan. Yes, they do ribs in the stans: boar, goat, beef, and, on occasion, pork. And today I had, by far, the single best ribs I have ever had at "The Bone" in Gainesville, VA. Since they opened their first location in 2011, they have won BEST IN VIRGINIA every... single... year. I am a native Rhode Islander (sorry, I went to Tollgate while Lori was in North Providence, but I was on the "wrong side" of the track at Tollgate, no "Love Lane brat here if that helps), and I know we are not supposed to know BBQ but after 30 years in the military I have lived or served in a "couple" of place that do low and slow with pride. My wife is also active duty, and our last two duty stations were Albuquerque, NM, and Las Vegas, NV. When I say we have had a ton of BBQ, I mean I almost missed height and weight too many times because of the quality of BBQ we were near. The Bone blows all of them away. Why? Well, they are not the best at everything, but they are the BEST overall. Their atmosphere and friendly vibe draw you in, and the food and the staff keep you there. The staff is cool, but the food is what keeps you coming back. Juicy, well-seasoned, well-cooked, and DAAAAAMMMED TASTY. I have visited most of the locations Guy visited in NV and NM; all are AWESOME. NONE beat the family feel and the overall quality of "THE BONE."
