This is old school trolley car, backed in off of Main St in East Greenwich, RI. It started as a hot dog and hamburger cart in 1917. "Key Milestones in History" • 1917 (Origins): Vilgot "Jigger" Lindberg launched the original operation as a lunch cart. He later ran a nearby hot dog and hamburger eatery called "Lindy's" and transitioned the cart location. • 1928–1941: Jigger moved the original cart to Wickford Village and replaced it with a 1929 Worcester Lunch Car (WLC #632). Lindberg left the business around 1941. • 1950 (The Current Car): New owners Leonard "Lenny" Boren and John Avery replaced the older diner with the present-day vintage structure—a classic barrel-roofed model built by the Worcester Lunch Car Company. The town famously closed Main Street to let a flatbed truck deliver the diner. • 1983–1992 (Closure & Storage): The diner closed in 1983 and spent nearly a decade used as a storage room for an adjacent paint store. • 1992 (First Restoration): Carol Shriner purchased and restored the property, retaining original elements like the clock, green stools, woodwork, and floor tiles (sourcing replacement booths from the former Colonial Diner in Brockton, Massachusetts). • 2012–Present (Modern Era): After brief closures, Stephen and Karie Head (and later Karie Myers) reopened the diner as Jigger's Hill and Harbor Diner, preserving its classic American breakfast and lunch traditions. Ownership later transitioned to Christos Spyridis.
