Guy, there are 3 restaurants you must visit in Central Coast, CA
I live on the Central Coast, Ca, there are 3 restaurants I think you would enjoy visiting: Splash in Pismo Beach, great clam chowder, all fish is great, I love the fried clams. It is family owned, always a line around the building on weekends and in the summer, also very reasonable! For steak, our area is known for the Santa Maria style bar-b-q, I love the Hitching Post in Casmalia. It is in a building that is over 100 yrs old, the best steak cooked perfectly every time, the secret is cooking over red oak. We always sit at the table looking through the glass window watching the chef cook the steaks. It is amazing to watch him, one of the Ostini Family, probably 3rd generation cooking. Lastly is the Smokehouse in Cayucos, right on the beach. It is so small that there is no inside seating, but the best smoked fish tacos ever. It is owned by Jim Ruddell. He has been written up in Sunset Magazine and also Westways. I always bring home some smoked salmon, it is absolutely delicious!
