"Cadieux Cafe in Detroit, MI"

Anonymous

Here in Detroit there's this little neighborhood restaurant called the Cadieux Cafe on Cadieux Rd. between Mack and Warren. The building dates back to the Prohibition when it was a Speakeasy. Nowadays it's a great place to go for a night out. Family owned since the 60's it features old world Beligian cuisine like Steamed Mussels, Belgian Beer Stew and Pomfrites. the menu also has a broad selection of authentic Belgian beers. The real attraction is cultural. It's long been a social hub for the locals and serves as the unofficial headquarters of a variety of clubs and has even been awarded the Michigan Heritage Award. The star attraction of the Cadieux Cafe is feather bowling: and old Belgian pastime akin to bocce and horseshoes. There is a league that plays two nights a week: Tuesdays after 8 PM and Thursdays after 7, the remaining nights are open for public rental by the hour. The Cadieux Cafe is the only place in the US to play this game, it's rarely played in Belgium and visitors from the old country are often astonished to see it so preserved. So come on by. It's great fun, great food and a truly unique experience.
