I live in the interior British Columbia Canada
I live in the interior British Columbia Canada about 1 mile from the US boarder. There is the greatest place just over the US/Canada Border in Oroville Washington called The Past Time Pub. It's an old time bar from days gone by in a border town. Lots of Canadians would go down there back in the day to drink cheep beer and play pull tabs. When the Cdn dollar lost its value to the US dollar back in the early 90s people stopped going and the place closed down. Now it has been renovated keeping lots of the old atmosphere including a cool bar and an amazing Chef with great and innovative twists on all kinds of dishes has breathed new life into the place and we (Canadians) are thrilled. Chef Patchen has dual citizenship so he has a blend of American and Canadian Dishes. Oroville WA is a town of apple farmers, ranchers and lots of small town characters. This place is so random and such a surprise to anything you would expect to find in the most Northern part of Washington State. Please, please go to the web site and check out the menu. You have to come here. I try to go as much as I can but once a week for sure. When I go there I see just as many Canadians as Americans there enjoying the food, atmosphere, free pool and shuffle board. I have made it my mission to get everyone I know to try it out and so far not one person hasn't been delighted and surprised. It's such a cool place with amazing food and cool atmosphere especially in this part of the world!
