"Hi-Lo's 15th Street Cafe in Bremerton, WA"

Anonymous

Hi-Lo's 15th Street Cafe in Bremerton, Washington (across the Puget Sound from Seattle). This is the ultimate "unofficial thermos museum" hippie joint. They even have an old VW bus converted in to extra seating space outside! There is always a line and everything they make is good. Go on the weekend (early in the morning) and get the Eggs Benedict. I could drink that hollandaise sauce! I still dream about it and I haven't had it in years. They also have huge homemade "moon" biscuits and gravy, green eggs and ham, and weekend specials (including a chili with chocolate in it one week that was phenomenal). It's located near Bremerton's own Naval shipyard, so you'll see sailors there every single weekend (like myself and my husband when we lived there) unwinding from a full duty day on the ship. They're friendly and always fresh, local, and DELICIOUS. I have never missed a food joint like I miss this place.

It's one of my most favorite places from the food to the crew to the atmosphere. I was never really interested in eating Eggs Benedict, but for some reason I tried it and loved it. I think it was on the recommendation of the person (a stranger) that shared our table. By the way, Favorite Table: the VW Bus outside... you'll want a reservation for that. I know Guy's not an egg guy so I recommend the Moon Biscuits and Gravy. One of my favs is the build your own salad with tons of toppings to choose from like sprouts and avacados to a variety of meats, cheeses, and nuts. This is definitely fresh food done right.
