Wild Garlic Grill in Tucson, AZ
Dear DDD (otherwise known as the most valuable show in all of TV programming), I would like to suggest a restaurant for your consideration for DDD: Wild Garlic Grill in Tucson, AZ; http://www.wildgarlicgrill.com/ We record, watch, and study Triple D on a regular basis, and have a great appreciation of the qualities of restaurants that are appropriate for the show. When we travel we always try to sample as many Triple D restaurants as possible. I believe the Wild Garlic Grill restaurant in Tucson would be an excellent candidate. The chef, Steven Schultz, is a local Tucson native and has extensive credentials in terms of culinary training and experience and has worked in several excellent restaurants. This restaurant opened approximately 2 years ago, and is actually located in a former hamburger drive-in building. Although the interior has been renovated and has a comfortable modern feel, the external appearance still largely qualifies it as a dive. The kitchen is in the center of the restaurant and you pass by and almost through it immediately upon entering. Two concepts are particularly notable about the menu: 1) the extensive variety and complexity of the dishes, and 2) the quality and price/value of the meals. On a recent visit the specials included lamb shanks, rack of lamb, several exotic seafood options (Scottish salmon stuffed with crab and lobster with a red pepper reduction) , huge tenderloins, venison, and more, in addition to the usual extensive menu of seafood, pastas, meats, and desserts. The appetizer list by itself would qualify as the entree menu in many restaurants. It is amazing that this variety and quality of dishes can be produced from this very small kitchen. Thanks for your possible consideration. Thomas E.
