"Johnny's Chophouse in Antioch, IL"
While visiting my sister in Gurnee, IL, I was looking for local restaurants as I refuse to eat at Chain restaurants while traveling. We drove to Antioch, Illinois and ate at Johnny's Chophouse, which is a tiny family run restaurant. Our first meal there was a Friday night, where I chose the Grouper special that was being offered. It was grilled and smothers in Feta Cheese, Diced tomatoes, Scallions, with a light vinaigrette that was amazing. Everyone at the table ordered a different entrée and we were all thrilled with our meals. Because it was such a great experience, we returned on Sunday for their brunch buffet, which was even more impressive. They had everything from Eggs Benedict, and fresh crepes to Biscuits and Gravy, an Omelet station that included made to order waffles and a carving station with roast beef and ham, to hot foods such as BBQ ribs and several sides. They also have a "sweets" table with just about every dessert you can imagine, and get this, the price was $13.95 per person. Great quality food prepared on site with unbelievable pricing.
