"Beau Jo's Pizza in Idaho Springs, CO"
I've been going through this site looking for some yum places to eat when I take a long overdue road trip next month, and noticed that one of my faves from Colorado (where I grew up) isn't mentioned. You've got to try Beau Jo's Pizza in Idaho Springs, CO (in Idaho Springs, NOT one of the several franchise locations littering the front range, not bad but a sequel non the less). The atmosphere of not just the eatery but the town is fabulous. I made it one of my last stops before leaving to start my new life as a transplant. This is Colorado Mountain pie, and the soft thick crust makes a great dessert by adding butter and sugar, gooey cinnamon sugar butter to be precise. (To be fair I don't remember if that was the leftovers we took home or something they offer there, but oh so good). I've lived in Bremerton, WA since '03 and I've had a lap-band since '07 ( lost over a person until some recent set backs, but don't worry I'm back on the path) so I can't really eat bready food anymore, but I could do some damage on some toppings and sauce. Plus, now I'll have reason to try something new when I meet up with my sister next month. Non-food fact... My sister introduced me to Bremerton 15 yrs ago when she moved out here with her then hubby who took a job at the shipyard (PSNS). She moved to Texas shortly after I moved here (not to be near her as I knew she hated it), and is now living in Granby, CO at a dude ranch. She's a wanderer, yeah a wanderer, she roams around, around, around... Anyway, side tracked (happens a lot) I think this is definitely a great DDD spot-to-be.
