"River Grille in Chatham Township, NJ"

River Grille 34 River Road Chatham Township, NJ 07928 P#973-701-1125 Hi Guy! I want to recommend a small bar and restaurant called River Grille in Chatham Township, New Jersey. I was first introduced to this place when a friend wanted to grab a drink for her birthday after work. We started off with the spinach and artichoke appetizer with our Happy Hour drinks, which was delicious! After that we looked over the menu some more and decided to stay for dinner! I can't get enough of the food there! The chef is amazing! You have to try the french onion soup au gratin served with garlic toast points. The garlic bread is TO DIE FOR! The amount of cheese with the soup is overwhelmingly awesome and it just hits the spot! The white truffle macaroni and cheese is served bubbling hot, and let me tell you, it is the best mac and cheese I have EVER had! I recently recommended to my coworkers that we have a department holiday gathering there and they all RAVED about the food! We're already planning another outing in January so they can taste all of the other dishes! River Grille's salads are massive and so fresh! My favorite is the Santa Fe with chipotle ranch dressing - it could easily feed two people as a meal. My husband can't go to this restaurant without ordering their buffalo chicken dip. It's spicy, cheesy goodness hits the spot when you want a little kick. For sandwiches...oh my where do I start? The smoked ham and brie is out of this world! The honey smoked ham with melted brie and crunchy french fries...just mouth watering goodness. They have a Chicken ranch sandwich which sounds so plain, but is anything BUT THAT! It's got applewood smoked bacon, avocado, sharp cheddar and chipotle ranch dressing. The sandwich is massive! and of course it comes with their perfectly seasoned french fries. The cheesesteak, oh how I love their cheesesteak! If you're not in Philly, it's not easy finding a cheesesteak that come close to what a real cheesesteak should be. River Grille's cheesesteaks come with your choice of cheese, mushrooms, peppers and onions on an amazing bread. (My mouth is watering just thinking about it). For their entres, I have to say that the baked penne hits it out of the park for me. It has chicken and Italian sausage with tons of cheeses all baked to perfection! I can't get enough of their food and I honestly think you'd love it! It's a very unique atmosphere, where you'll see all types. After work's out, the bar is packed with blue collared workers and as soon as dinner time rolls around, the white collared folks start coming in for a nice sit down dinner in the upper portion of the restaurant. It's such a diverse crowd and the best sports bar atmosphere with memorabilia hanging in the bar. The staff is friendly and very helpful! You can tell that they are proud to work where there's such great food! This restaurant may be considered a "hole in the wall" to some people, but it's honestly a diamond in the rough. It's on a very industrial road, where there are a lot of blue collar businesses. If you don't know about it, you may never find it, because it's not a road that people travel on all the time, but it's close enough to the highway that some people may be lucky enough to stumble across it. I'm so glad that 4 years ago I was introduced to their food and I will continue to be a loyal diner forever! Please give this place a try! You won't be sorry! -Laura
