Hot Rodz BBQ in Junction City, KS
There is a BBQ place in Junction City KS called Hot Rodz BBQ. It’s a small business with a guy who was a navy seal, bar owner, construction co owner, and now restaurantuer. He doesn’t use use recipes, he creates new things every week. The menu changes depending on a variety of reasons and every time I go in he has something unique and amazing. I always walk out of his place smelling like smoked meat the rest of the day. His brisket and pulled pork are awesome. I love days when he has his Mac n cheese with brisket (I think) in it, or the tater tots. He also makes his own pickles and does something to baked beans that is crazy. He also has very good potato salad. This guy has a special product for the community. Every time I go in he sits and talks with his customers, whether it’s about his time in the military, construction, billiards competitor, bar owner, or meat and meat related topics lol. Send a team now. He is a Hill Billy joint and proud of it !

When you are on a road trip across the country, one only hopes to get a palatable meal, but finding Hot Rodz, the Kansas crown jewel of a BBQ pits, can only be described as serendipitous. Expect to be greeted by the gruff owner, Ron, a man who meets all the criteria for a pit master. His love for the food he makes is evident by the enthusiasm he has when telling you about how he cooked it, but the quality and taste is what sets Ron and his restaurant, Hot Rodz, above all others. I would recommend a dish in particular, but it's like choosing your favorite child. They are all delicious. Get the ribs, the brisket, the pulled pork, the BBQ chicken, the smoked links. Then get the Mac n cheese, the collared greens and the slaw. Really, just ask Ron what he has on the grill and get whatever that is. Guy has found a thousand different gems over the years, but this dive is a glaring omission and Guy should hurry on over there right this minute.
So I found this little hole almost a year ago. Best bbq I have found. Ron ,the owner, is an excellent guy. He homemakes just about everything. His mac n cheese is to die for. The meats are tender and flavorful. I have NEVER gotten anything I didnt like from this place. He is always changing the menu and adding new things. You will NOT leave this place unhappy. I say it is definitely worth the trip, no matter where you are.

Feels more like you walked into your uncles dining room than a restaurant. Must try food would be everything but at a minimum the Hot Rodz sandwich or the giant beef rib.
Hot Rodz BBQ in Junction City, KS Hot Rodz B B Q in Junction City, Kansas, would be an excellent selection for your consideration. Ron Jackson, the owner/cook is very personable and "wacky" like Guy! He came to our table annd told us all sorts of funny stories about his life and the store. I mentioned Guy should come here as he had Bobo's in Topeka, Kansas (which I also love) and he recommended I contact you because he had been told that he was on the "radar". Great food and "atmosphere" Thanking you in advance for your consideration. Diana
